A UC Berkeley Optometry graduate, Dr. Gabe Respicio started his career at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, CA. Wanting to explore the possibilities private practice, he joined Daly City Optometry in 1997.  A 26-year resident of Hercules, CA, Dr. Gabe launched OPTOMETRY BY THE BAY in September, 2005.

As a student at CAL, working under Dr. Robert Mandell - known to be a pioneer in the contact lens field, Dr. Respicio participated in and co-authored contact lens related studies published in Optometric journals and textbooks. His doctorate thesis - involved Sports Vision - enabled him to work with the CAL baseball and softball teams as well as the athletes involved in the East-West Shrine Game. He has participated in three Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) missions (2 in the Philippines and 1 in Mexico).

Having co-managed hundreds of patients with the Bay Area's best LASIK surgeons, Dr. Respicio is highly trained and experienced in this sub-specialty.  He added Low Vision services in which telescopic and magnification devices are prescribed to those suffering from permanent vision loss related to such diseases as Diabetes, Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma.

If he's not playing the drums (if he could be a rock star, he would) or grinding out DYI projects around the house, Dr. Gabe's free time is spent with his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and his wonderful kids . . . 18 year-old daughter, Niki, and 11 and 6 year-old sons, Roman and Zane.

Dr. Gabe is a past President of the Dynamic Referral Group, the local BNI Chapter - and is a member of the Hercules Chamber of Commerce.  He is member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and the Alameda Contra Costa Optometric Society.
